Allende has a way of introducing and exploring characters in such a succinct and engrossing way that I am sure would drive me nuts if done by anyone else.
Gorgeous story, and it was an interesting way to learn more about the Spanish Civil War and Pinochet.
Adding body shaming as a content warning because of how gaining weight or avoiding gaining weight as characters aged seemed to be associated with negative or admirable character traits.
