I think the author did a really good job highlighting how a relationship between someone who is asexual and someone who isn't could develop and ultimately work but I felt like at times because this topic may be newer to most it became a little too much like an after-school special.   That dynamic made some of the conversations and the inner dialogue of the characters feel incredibly stilted.
