House of the Sleeping Beauties and Other Stories by Yasunari Kawabata

4.0

The title story I found rather extraordinary. The other two, after a lifetime of Madison Avenue and CGI movies, do not, probably, hit with the force they may have when originally published. As stories in the context of loneliness, they are all marvelous as well as disturbing. Upon reflection, the artistry becomes, I think, more apparent. Not for a simplistic optimist.
