Twisted Love by Ana Huang
2.0

Twisted Love, unfortunately, turned out to be one of the most boring and predictable romance novels I've encountered. From the very start, I found the characters incredibly annoying. Alex, with his cheesy possessive nature, failed to convince me of his "bad and twisted" persona. Typically, that brooding self-centered archetype can be compelling, but here it fell flat. His tendency to make every situation revolve around him, especially when it involved Ava, was irritating.

Ava, on the other hand, came off as pathetically needy, crying out for rescue while simultaneously insisting she didn’t need saving. This damsel-in-distress attitude did nothing but irritate me further. I craved a strong, independent character, but what I got was a constant cycle of whining and dependency.

As for the spice, it was mild at best. Alex's attempts at being edgy, like calling someone a "slut" in bed or taking them from behind, felt more cringe-worthy than exciting. Maybe my taste for twisted kink is bigger, but I found myself giggling during the supposedly steamy scene, not out of excitement, but out of sheer embarrassment. Overall, Twisted Love left me underwhelmed and rolling my eyes instead of swooning.

I might be interested in reading the book that involves her brother Josh and I’m assuming Jules only because I feel like the characters are a little bit more interesting. Otherwise, I think I’m good on the series.
