While it has a really good ending. The book is really slow paced with the plot being rather repetitive. With it only being captivating in the last 50 pages.
The characters are really varied and well written with strong personality.
There is also some quite dark topics that is expected from a book based in the 1890's
The book contains rather short chapters ranging from reports, letters, diary entries and the main perspective, while a bit jarring it was really interesting to see the variety in style.
