Silent Defender by Nikki Worrell

3.0

When I first read the summary for Silent Defender I was hyped for the release day of the book, but after getting into the book I was confronted with doubt and disappointment.

As a South Jersey native, the location of the story, the mentioning of common locations and attractions got me even more excited, but didn't balance out my dislike in the end.

The first one hundred pages of the book were the best for me. I loved the relationship between Jennie and Magnus, the connection they had.

A certain common situation ruined the rest of the book for me.

Spoiler
I absolutely loathe when authors throw in a "surprise" or "accidental" pregnancy. To me this is a cheap way to make a story move along when you don't know what to do or how to add to the story.

So many other options and plots could exist, but instead you throw in a pregnancy and half the time a rushed marriage. This kills any excitement I may have for a book.
