Estamos en el mes de Octubre y Halloween se acerca y, como no, este mes mis lecturas están dedicadas a este género. La maldición del mar es perfecto para esta época. Soy una enamorada de la temática de brujas y este libro lo tiene TODO. ¿Os gustan las brujas, los juicios de Salem, las maldiciones y las posesiones? Pues este libro es para vosotros.
En este libro nos encontramos a tres jóvenes hermanas que en 1822 llegan a un pueblo llamado Sparrow. Allí, las ejecutan por brujería cuando creen que están hechizando a los hombres del lugar. A partir de entonces, vuelven cada año durante el mes de junio y poseen el cuerpo de tres jóvenes para ahogar a chicos de su edad como venganza. Entonces nos encontramos en la actualidad, con Penny, una chica que vive en la isla del faro y, cuando conoce a un chico llamado Bo, se ve envuelta con las hermanas Swan.
La trama te engancha desde el primer momento. Está escrito desde diferentes situaciones, por un lado estamos en el presente en la mente y vida de Penny, por otro lado, hay capítulos en medio que vuelven atrás en el tiempo y te van dando pistas para saber qué está pasando en el presente. Me parece una manera muy ingeniosa de mantener la atención de la gente. Además, está muy bien escrito. Los personajes principales son muy enigmáticos. Nos encontramos que cada uno de ellos tiene sus motivaciones y sus secretos enredados que se van descubriendo a medida que avanza la historia y eso hace que la historia sea intrigante.
En conclusión, es el libro perfecto para esta época. Tiene intriga y una trama enrevesada pero escrita tan bien que no se te hace pesado. Además, es autoconcluyente, así que es perfecto para aquellos que les gusta empezar y acabar una historia en un mismo libro.

I am in love with the subject of witches and this book has it ALL. Do you like witches, Salem trials, curses and possessions? Well, this book is for you.
In this book we meet three young sisters who in 1822 arrive in a town called Sparrow. There, they are executed for witchcraft when the villagers believe they are bewitching the men of the place. Since then, they return every year during the month of June and have the bodies of three young women to drown boys their age as revenge. Then we meet today, with Penny, a girl who lives on the island of the lighthouse and, when she meets a boy named Bo, she gets involved with the Swan sisters.
The plot hooks you from the first moment. It is written from different situations, on one hand we are in the present in the mind and life of Penny, on the other hand, there are chapters in the middle that go back in time and give you clues to know what is happening in the present. It seems to me a very ingenious way to keep people's attention. In addition, it is very well written. The main characters are very enigmatic. We find that each one of them has their motivations and their tangled secrets that are discovered as the story progresses and that makes the story intriguing.
In conclusion, it is the perfect book for this era. It has intrigue and a convoluted plot but written so well that it does not make it hard to read. In addition, it is self-concluding, so it is perfect for those who like to start and finish a story in the same book.
