In the Woods by Tana French

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
The writing style was captivating and reads much like a noir film. The setting is fresh and enticing. However, it was the descriptions of female characters by the male lead that put a nail in this book’s coffin. I assume the reader is supposed to like Detective Rob Ryan, but he is no charmer. Why is it necessary to describe the pubescent body of a 12 year old murder victim? This reads like male authors describing their women under their most fruitful gaze and it was a major turnoff.
