Only if You’re Lucky

I have a lot to say of this book, but I’m weighing how important it is for me to put it all out there.

I felt like this book was just spiraling. All over the place. I couldn’t even focus on the writing because all I kept thinking was, “Again? Another paragraph detailing her energy and pull?”. I’m honestly a little in disbelief that the author spent so much time doing that and wasn’t able to recognize it. I know sometimes it works in favor of the story. The idea that this repetitive detailing of someone will make us so engrossed in who they are that their unraveling will be shocking. It wasn’t.

Most of the things were predictable and I always struggle with this. The shock value of these whodunnits. Most of the pieces had aligned in the end. I did not anticipate the big reveal at the end and it left me feeling bamboozled. Like what?
Spoiler There is no way we just spent a whole book invested in finding out who killed this girl’s best friend only to be told in the end that it was her all along.

I did appreciate the play on ethics and morals but eh. It just felt way too fake at the end. I don’t feel this warrants a detailed, lengthy review. I’m sorry. It’s a eh for me.
