The story: This was quite a bit less light-hearted than Hat Trick Heart. Please take note of the trigger warnings at the front of the book. Overall, it’s a sweet story of finding love from unexpected places and dealing with trauma. It kept my interest, despite not having a driving plot. It reads a little more like a slice of life.
The characters: Will is me and I am Will. I will not be taking questions at this time. Merkado juggles the multiple pov characters in this story well. Each has a distinct voice and the characters are truly what drives the book. I had some minor issues with how the kids in the book are portrayed. For 5 and 14, Asher and Savannah are often too insightful and articulate. Especially in the case of Savannah, it came off as (unintentional) parentification.
The writing: Ella’s style lends itself well to contemporary romance. There are some standout lines, especially when characters are professing love, and it truly drives home how devoted the characters are to each other.

The second installment in the Thunderclap Series will not disappoint fans of reverse harem romance, especially fans of the first novel, Hat Trick Heart.
