If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson

2.0

I really enjoyed the characters in this book and the way Woodson developed them. The romance was sweet and believable, and Woodson did a good job of depicting the kinds of resistance an interracial relationship could face. I was, however, disappointed in the ending, which felt really abrupt and unmotivated to me and seemed to change the book's focus too dramatically in the last few pages.
