Die unendliche Geschichte by Michael Ende

5.0

Maybe the most heart-wrenching, close-to-home story about redemption I know.

The end, when Atreyu
Spoilervouches for Bastian and promises to resolve the threads he left open makes me cry, every single time. It's very well described how supremely heart-warming this is over at TvTropes :,-)
.

Such an unflinching and compassionate portrayal of Bastian as you seldomly see with main characters. Super-sad, yet it give you hope. One of my all-time favourite stories.
