His Enduring Love: 50 Loving States, Illinois by Theodora Taylor

I really liked the idea but didn’t enjoy the execution. It was really hard for me to fall into the romance because Suro was so problematic to me. I understand falling for someone who’s reserved but he just completely ignored Lacey’s boundaries. When he bought the club she worked at and even moved into her apartment without permission that wasn’t romantic to me at all. Especially when he went through her things and took her safety net away from her. That was hella manipulative 🥴 He felt so entitled to everything about her but she didn’t really know anything about him, she didn’t even know what his smile looked like.

As I was listening to the audiobook, I found myself wanting more from the story. I feel like there’s so much that would’ve made the story better. As I got closer to end of the book, it seemed like things were just conveniently and quickly falling into place just so Lacey and Suro could be together. There’s so many topics that could’ve been expanded on. I wanted to know more about the Dominicans and Lacey’s ex, Lacey’s father, Suro’s past, etc
