This was really, really good. So much changes after the very beginning, though, that I feel like I can't say why I liked it without spoiling something. It made me think about other works (Murderbot, Monk and Robot, the movie Brazil, the many literary references), but it isn't really like any of those - it is squarely its own story. There is a surprising amount of humor, and I loved the two main characters so much. I also appreciate how Tchaikovsky creates such believable and distinct characters, especially non-human characters, in his writing.
