Ariadne by Jennifer Saint

3.5 A beautifully written book. I really loved C. S. Lewis’ Till We Have Faces, and this book seemed to have a similar feel to a Greek myth retelling. The first section of this book was by far my favorite. There was great characterization, setting, and plot. It’s not a story I was previously familiar with, so I can’t say how or where it differed from the original, but I wasn’t worried about that. The strong characterization did carry through the rest of the book. In the end, the major themes weren’t for me and I wasn’t a fan of the darker twists as the book went on. Still, a beautifully written book.
