Nightstalkers by Steve Alten

Not as fun as some of the previous books in the series. I listened to the audiobook (Audible), and while the narration was excellent, the storyline was all over the place. Some passages seemed to be repeated and I eventually lost track of all the various creatures / dinosaurs and people in the story. Then I lost interest.

However, I hate not finishing a book, and also do not like completing a series, so I immediately started on Meg 6 - Generations. Here the author copies lengthy passages word for word from his previous book to set the scene and it left me feeling cheated. Really? This is lazy writing. I'm only a few chapters in, but I am already hoping that some of the characters are now eventually devoured by these sea monsters so the series can end.

The more I think about it, the more ridiculous the story is. Not so much the backdrop regarding the existence of Megs, but the character development. A 21-year old acting as if he is mid-30's and supposedly the world's best at what he does. Nah, I don't care for David. What was up with Terry having Parkinson's disease? It led nowhere. And Jonas gets more irritating as the series carries on. Instead of a growing connection with these characters as the series developed, I found myself caring less and less about them.

Oh, and don't get me started on the sexual scenes that the author tried to include in this book. Nor the time travel possibilities. It ultimately led nowhere and was a major distraction on the story. Yuck!
