hmmmmmm im a bit on the fence about this
just something about the switch from being a slice of life -> supernatural doesn't feel very fluid?
to help with the transition, i think a heavier emphasis of the supernatural through casual motifs woven a bit more generously throughout the first 3/4 of the book perhaps?

perhaps it was a conscious choice not to do that and give us the same sort of whiplash her kids got
