Race by Toni Morrison

4.0

This isn’t what I expected it to be. Somehow, I expected this to be an essay but it’s a selection of some of Morrison’s novels. The parts are taken from Beloved, Song of Solomon and The Bluest Eye.

In a way, it’s a good way to see if any of Morrison’s work appeals to you. And it is a good look at the idea of race from the point of view of African American people.

The only criticism I have of this is that it was a bit jarring to move around in the pieces. There was one part in the selection from Song of Solomon, where the chapter is chopped in quite an odd place. So it didn’t seem to flow well, from that point of view.
