This was a phenomenal romance novel, but it was also a gripping and touching story that explored different kinds of grief, finding where one belongs, and the meaning of connection with others. Fortune wrote the characters, their feelings, and their experiences so holistically that you could not help but be convinced by every scene, emotion, and conversation. It felt like I was bathing in the book, its plot unfolding with such ease and believability that it was seamless. This category of romance novel, where the experiences of regular people provide exposition, their choices fuel the narrative, and the antagonistic forces at play are relatable and realistic, offer the deepest and most moving love stories. This book is an instant classic as far as I am concerned, and I wholeheartedly recommend it!
