I am the kind of person who is drawn in to read a book that involves a meet-cute that happens in a plane crash. This is the best part of the book. RY writes engagingly and after an insanely long reading slump I finally finished a book. But at what cost?

This book asks “what if two people say they’re soulmates for 10 years but have no serious conversations about anything?” And to that I would say, I hate everything about the nonsensical second half of this book, I hate Nate* and how he keeps saying they shouldn’t have a relationship talk because it’s not the right time (but they’re soulmates so they just have to wait??), and honestly Isabeau deserved better. This book was the definition of things happening for *reasons* and it annoyed the hell out of me.

I did love her relationship with her sister.

*Nate is the kind of guy who says “I would do anything for her” but actively (but for no real reason??) chooses to not work towards a real relationship with her.
