Four stars? FIVE stars? I suspect that I won't know the answer for a few days. "Horror" or "supernatural suspense" isn't my favorite genre, although I read it occasionally. However, this book exceeded my expectations in several different areas: the creep factor, the combination of voodooand haunted-house, the African-American protagonist(s) and the diverse supporting cast of characters. Oh, it's loooong. And there are a couple places where flashbacks interrupt the narrative flow. but these are minor quibbles. Tananarive Due can WRITE, ya'll.
