Richard Gansey was failing to sleep. When he closed his eyes: Blue’s hands, his voice, black bleeding from a tree. It was starting, starting. No. It was ending. He was ending. This was the landscape of his personal apocalypse. What was excitement when he was wakeful melted into dread when he was tired.

this series has been so fun! i’m happy i finally got around to it. the vibes, characters, and writing quality are all spot on! the execution wasn’t always there, but the emotion makes up for it.

rush rush rush to the ending. romance is in the air, chaos is all around us, it’s ending ending ending and all that.

overall, the series has a great ensemble cast of super lovable characters with complicated (usually teenage) emotions, (mostly) unexplained magic that makes for great cozy spooky vibes, cool side characters and side quests, and beautiful writing that’s a great mix of getting it done and practically lyrical.

solid 4 star series. book #1 is definitely my favorite!
