After reading most of its webtoon counterpart, reading the novel from which it originated was something I was too curious about to not do it.

Evidently for something that is the source material, I was surprised to find that a lot was different. Some parts of the book I wish were in the webtoon and vice versa.

The writing style leaves something to be desired with its occasional grammatical errors but overall it was still pretty binge-able. I’m biased for knowing most of the characters beforehand, vaguely knowing how things would play out through the story, but still found some significant changes that honestly makes this and the webtoon nearly two different stories entirely (primarily, Lauren’s arc and the development of Emma and Vivian’s relationship).

Overall, it’s a pretty easy and quick read with a predictable but likable plot, themes of coming of age, friendship, and mental health, but coupled with some writing and story arcs I would’ve changed/added makes it 3/5 stars for me.
