The YA vibes are strong with this one yet I loved the vulnerable, realistic, and reliability of Juliet's journey. I enjoyed seeing the honesty portrayed in her learning and exploring of herself, her identity, other people, words and whether or not they fit. Her coming out was, again, so realistic and I loved her relationship and interactions with each family member. I also enjoyed the role Harlowe had in the story, especially when she would get called out and made self aware. So many things to like! Can’t forget details like the interwoven history she was learning, as well as her undeniable New York and Puerto Rican, or better Nuyorican, vibes.
