this book was the best kind of weird.
i really wasn’t sure if i was enjoying it or not at first, which is always something that puts me in a crossroads with books. i’m a big believer in not finishing things you’re not fully enjoying, but sometimes there are gems that are worth it.
this was worth it.
it needed such a wild suspension of disbelief at one point but it was such a self aware story – it poked fun at its own unrealness and i loved it. i’ve been feeling over YA for a while now, especially the “contemporary retelling” kind, but this book showed me that there are still gems being brought to life every now and then.
