Wings of Olympus by Kallie George

3.0

I just finished this lovely little book with my five year old, who grabbed it from the library as soon as she saw the winged horse on the cover. Although fairly basic in premise/execution, it was a nice way to gently introduce her to Greek mythology and highlighted the importance of love in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

While I’m not sure that this one will stay with her as long as some of the others we’ve read together (and is not one of the middle grade classics that provide a complex, thoughtful reading experience for all ages) I’d definitely recommend it to any other young girls who are as caught up in the unicorn/horse phase as my daughter.

Anything that bolsters a growing love of fantasy is a win in my book - and Pippa was a thoroughly charming protagonist. Solid 3.5 stars.
