The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

5.0

Katniss Everdeen does many illegal things during her free time. Hunting, going past the fence, trading with the black market. She hasn't been punished for them, yet. But she does, in her own way. Katniss lives in Panem, a dystopian world where twelve districts supply for their world. It used to be thirteen, but the last one is gone. After the thirteenth district was obliterated, a new tradition was started. The Hunger Games. Twenty-four contestants, two from each district, a boy and a girl, fight to the death, and there can only be one winner. Sometimes. When Katniss's younger sister, Primrose, gets placed in the Hunger Games, Katniss takes her place, along with Peeta Mellark, the bakers son. They journey to the Capital, where Peeta claims an undying love for Katniss, making them the stars of the show. When they enter the arena, things will change, but one thing is for sure. Nobody can know that their love is fake, or else they will lose their resources, which keep them alive. Can Katniss keep up the charade, or will she expose the truth to the world?
