I have read this book twice and this one is just not working for me.
Barbara has been having so many problems in the last book. Already being scrutinized by everyone except Lynley. She stumbles trough this book as Ardery is even more set than normal to get her out. With Barbara not being Barbara there is less fun and I usually like her train of thought. On the other hand the uncomfortable position she is in and how that affects her personality are well written.
The investigation in this book is a bit off too. Usually I can puzzle along very well but I felt I missed a lot in the first place but after reading it again I noticed that it just was not there.
There are some very situation changing things happening in this book and I am curious where this is going.
