This was one of my favourite books when I was younger and was so happy to find it had been kept and was in my parents loft.
Carrie and her brother Nick are sent to a Welsh mining village during the war. They are put with Mr Evans, who runs the grocers, and his sister Louisa. Whilst trying to keep Mr Evans happy they also spend time at Druids Bottom.
I really enjoyed reading this again. It makes you realise how children interpret things differently to adults. The only thing that stopped it being a 5 star is I feel like it just ends so abruptly, when it could have carried on to see what happened.
