Nikki is a British girl, culturally Punjabi, religiously Sikh. But she is what the elder Punjabis call, a modern girl. She wears jeans. She drinks alcohol. She probably has sex out of wedlock. She doesn’t believe in arranged marriages.

Nikki is hired to teach creative writing to women in the Sikh community. Little does she know that this creative writing class is not at all what she had expected - these women start sharing their secret sexual desires in the form of fiction.

Though a light read in that regard, this is not really a light read. Because while talking about sex is fun and scandalous, it is also very taboo within the religious and cultural confines. As Nikki continues to teach this class, she realizes how poorly women can be treated by some in the community.
