Vicious by V.E. Schwab

5.0

I don’t know how to describe this book because it is just SO perfect. My first V.E. Schwab novel and it most definitely did not disappoint. I was hooked from the very first chapter. How do I sum this book up without spoiling anything? I’ll try my best. Victor and Eli have found the secret to creating super powered humans. Ten years later, best friends become mortal enemies. However, I wouldn’t exactly say one is completely good or one is completely evil. They both seem to have their own reasons to do the things they do. Until one day they have to face off against each other after all those years. If I say anything else I’ll be saying too much.

Schwab did a really good job with her character building that I felt like even the side character had their own moment to shine. Victor and Eli are amazing characters with an interesting background. Serena is so threatening that she had me feeling distressed every time she showed up in a chapter. Sydney is lovely with the spirit of a child and courage of a warrior. And Mitch is not only muscle, but brains as well.

The ending was so so SO well done. Usually I see plot twists coming from a whole mile away, but this one snuck pass me silently until it hit me at full force. Beautifully done, and fantastically written I cannot wait to pick up and read Vengeful because let’s be honest, I need more of this story.
