The Masks We Burn by Lee Jacquot

4.0

ARC Review

I went into this one as a standalone, and Jacquot did NOT disappoint! I fell hard for Amora and Will's story right off the bat, falling right into the midst of their enemies to lovers banter.

Amora is a hard-headed female lead that has built her life around not needing anyone to do anything for her, which immediately resonated with me. She needs badly to find some time to figure out what she wants in life on her own before her parent's make her marry for money. That's the last thing she wants to happen.

Will, super stubborn Will, is trying to get over a past injury and just can't get the life back in his lungs no matter how hard he tries. At last, he finds something that makes him feel the fire inside, however is struck down on the opportunity to make it a life.

When fate, and friends, bring her and Will together again after years of mutual dislike the last thing Amora expects is to strike a deal with him to buy more time with her parents.

Follow along as the tension between the two builds into an epic romance , but will the two be too stubborn to admit the feelings between them before the deal is over?
