Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick

The premise was very interesting and I had high hopes for the book. I especially loved how the stories linked to one another and went back in time.
However I had quite a few issues with the book
1. There was no explanation of the flowers. Like only the effects of the flowers were shown and nothing else. Those flowers are always there
2. The ending was so underwhelming. You read a book where it builds up the ending and doesn't follow through on it.
3. I consider myself pretty good in English even though its not my first language. However I couldn't understand the book towards the end. It was either the language or it was me. Not sure which
