Bad Cruz by L.J. Shen

This was one of the most disappointing books I’ve read. I almost didn’t bother finishing it, but was hoping for some redeeming quality. There wasn’t one.

It somehow managed to be incredibly slow yet also move ridiculously fast. The dialogue is expected of a teen romance novel. The character development is subpar.

What is the point of Tennessee feeding into the unnecessary slut shaming when she is the exact opposite of that? Why is there so little empowerment for her as a character? Even the one point where it seems like she’s finally going to stand up for herself she ends up forgiving everyone within 2 hours like it never even happened?

Shen is trying so hard to make the book relatable but it is just so unrealistic. It’s as if she filled and hat with “romance cliches”, randomly drew 20 and tried to cram them all into one novel.

Do not recommend.
