This book is a very honest first person account of what it’s like for a white teen with class privilege to suddenly develop severe OCD symptoms and eventually find support. For those seeking to understand the experience of OCD, this would be a very useful read. However, the writing level feels best matched to a reader a similar age to the author in her memories (15ish?). The language is basic and it feels a bit like a dramatic recreation on a stage - people have lines and parts to play. However I read through it swiftly and found it very useful in helping me understand how isolating and frightening it would be to experience a sudden onset of a flood of “bad thoughts.”
