Bag of Bones by Stephen King

3.0

I really appreciate a well-done ghost story. Juxtaposing the living world and its plot with the underlying paranormal effect of the ghostly elements really jives with me. I was really looking forward to finally reading Bag Of Bones, and while I did appreciate the ghostly side of things, this book has one major weakness; pacing.
This book is just too long for what it says itself to be. Don't get me wrong, the important plot points were indeed very important, but it took far too long to get to each one.
I enjoyed Mike as a character, for I'm a sucker for writer protagonists, and I empathized with everything going on around and to him. The underlying mystery that needed solving was intrigue as well. But yes, it all too far too long to actually get there.
I really feel is this one had been pared down to a novella length, or even 'normal' novel length, it would have had more of a punch.
