Girl in a Band by Kim Gordon

5.0

4.5 stars, everything I love about a good memoir. I didn't know anything about Kim Gordon, or her scene, I've never listened to Sonic Youth, and yet this memoir was engrossing. I'm very picky about memoirs, especially ones that aren't in essay format; the writing has to be good (and good enough to stand on its own), the person's life has to be interesting enough and presented with a certain level of insight (instead of just being interesting cause the person is hella famous). This book definitely met my expectations, and it's a good thing when I say I read it like a novel (especially cause overall in my reading life I'm hung up on a lot nonfiction atm)

The only super nitpicky thing I would say is that she describes a lot of photos that aren't included in the book, and there are no descriptions for the photos that are included.
