A powerful and heartbreaking read about first love, trauma, and resilience. It’s hard to articulate how deeply this story affected me—Shannon and Joey’s pain felt so real it was almost unbearable, and realizing that their struggles reflect real-life experiences made it all the more difficult to process.
Johnny’s storyline—losing something he built his life around—was equally devastating and so human.
Despite its length, the writing is so easy to sink into that I flew through it in two days. That ending absolutely wrecked me, and I’m already reaching for the next book, even knowing it’s bound to hurt more.
