Zeal Without Burnout: Seven Keys to a Lifelong Ministry of Sustainable Sacrifice by Christopher Ash

4.0

Zeal Without Burnout is a short and practical encouragement to remember that we are not God and must live within our limitations. In it, Christopher Ash discusses some of the common causes of unnecessary burnout and points out that some of the choices we may deem more spiritual are actually detrimental to our ministry and our ability to continuously live a life of service. God does not need a day off, but we're not God. We do. God does not need rest, but I am made of dust. I need refreshment.

When we care for ourselves well, it puts us in a better position to keep on sacrificing instead of crashing and burning. God has grace, but sometimes His grace is shown in pointing out the potential for harm before we find ourselves overwhelmed in a place we should never have been. I highly recommend this book to anyone in Christian ministry.
