Bad Moon Rising by Jonathan Maberry

4.0

This was a great trilogy. Pine Deep is the most haunted town in America and throws an all out party every Halloween. Haunted hay rides, corn mazes, movie screenings, scream queen photo signings, parades, interviews with movie stars, producers and even some how-to’s from the best special effects artists; this town does it right.
30 years ago a crop disease devastated the town and even killed the livestock. Then a serial killers was loose and killed a lot of people in town. The town rose up, found their killer and killed him and hung him as a scarecrow for all to see. However, that evil didn’t stay dead.
Now three gangsters crash their car in Pine Deep as they were trying to escape a drug deal gone bad. The evil in the town comes to power just as October gets underway.
Great characters and a fun twisted plot full of old world monsters. The main character, Crow, has to be about the most perfect person alive but it works. He went through his trouble early in life and has moved on, but this guy can do no wrong. I liked every character, Crow, Val, Mike, Ruger, Vic, Eddie...whether evil or good, they were fun to read about
