How one man's disdain and envy led him to write a vampiric icon of gothic fiction and one of the most well loved and overdone chraracter tropes (the Byronic Hero). Having his novella attributed to the very man he vilified probably sealed the deal for him. 
I will never not think of this story without seeing Lord Byron in Lord Ruthven and Polidori in Aubrey.
