Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune
4.75

Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

i really did love this! fern and will were so sweet together! i loved the themes of grief, life not looking like what we thought it was going to look like, settling in a relationship, the fear of being stuck, mother-daughter relationships, and right person, wrong time.

i really enjoyed reading fern's mother's diary entries along with the past and present timeline of will and fern meeting for the first time and then again ten years later. i loved all the side characters, the lake resort setting and the challenges fern and will faced together and individually.

the only reason why this isn't five stars is because in the past chapters, both will and fern are in relationships when they are having their one whirlwind day together. while no cheating takes place, will says he's not in love with his girlfriend and fern is clearly settling and only staying with her boyfriend for comfort, it still didn't sit right with me.

other than that, i really loved this book! i love carley fortune's writing so much!
