A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

5.0

You may think that you know sadness, but you don’t until you read this book. There is so much beauty and love within it, but overall not enough for Jude, who deserves the world and yet deserved nothing that the world ever gave to him.

Really, finding words to adequately rate this book is impossible. I didn’t know what to expect going into it, perhaps the lives of four college graduates and the fun that they got up to.

Wrong.

Heartbreak, love, relationships, betrayals, death, loss, all of which are mashed into 720 pages of phenomenal writing that is easy to lose yourself in completely. The extremely dark elements are written so realistically that you are reminded that there is evil in the world and sometimes there is no recovering from it, but life goes on for as long as you can bare it.

Jude St. Francis, you are beautiful.
