A People's History of Heaven by Mathangi Subramanian
5.0

I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH WOW. Wow. Holy shit. Mathangi Subramanian has written this beautiful and powerful story of marginalized women in a Bangalore slum dealing with caste discrimination, poverty, ableism, patriarchal violence and sexism, and internalized misogyny and homophobia so so well in this novel. While it was short, it was powerful, and it resonated so strongly for me as I saw the same problems I've witnessed in desi communities play out in this book. Thank you, Subramanian. May you continue to share the stories of the oppressed with the world.
