Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine

5.0

My first thriller in a long time. And I can undoubtedly say that Rachel Caine delivered. Great plot, very good pacing, tense atmosphere and a psycho villain. In every way Rachel Caine has hit the ball out of the park.

It perfectly shows the horror that lurks in the society, among us, among common people. Pretty much shows the reality how we are, how little our existence means. In a moment you are someone but just like that you cease to exist and no one actually misses you unless your body resurfaces.

The protagonist is really badass. Not like super smart, well privileged women who also happens to be an ex spy with combat experience, no. She is just a woman who has lived with the horror for years, put her kids in harms way and made it her sole responsibility to keep her children safe.

The novel is filled with twists and set in tense, spine chilling and terrifying atmosphere. The more you read, more the tension grows on you. What can I say? It's a fine piece of work.
