The Wave
by Todd Strasser
Grabbed this book from the book room because it came recommended...and because it was short. I am teaching an ELA class for ESL students...and a lot of my students don't speak enough English to get into anything too complicated.
The story is a bit outdated (needs to be modernized!)...but it is a good story...and it has some good themes that resonate today. Most of my students stuck with the story---they may not have loved it, but they enjoyed it.
I personally would not have chosen this story...but as pickings are slim, I would do it again...especially if to avoid "Homeless Bird" or "Nothing But the Truth".
Read it if you are interested in the Holocaust...or in "group power"....
