As a teacher, I did enjoy the hopeful part of this story. It shows that a teacher can make a difference in the lives of their students. I did like Albert in the book (he was probably one of my favorites). At times, I felt that some of the teachers were unreasonable in the book and that some of the kids were too mean. Ally also made some pretty poor choices that I felt she got little/to no correction. (ei. running out of a classroom or building). However, this was a good read and reminder that sometimes things are not always what they seem. It does stress the importance to be diligent in identifying those who try to fly under the radar and give them the help they need.
