The atmosphere is so beautiful and I adore McDowell's writing style. I had to check if this places were real because I wanted to visit them so bad; that's the beauty of his writing despite being horror. He shines a golden light on the deep south and shows a new perspective on a place blindly written off by many. The story wasn't my favorite of his and it lacked that trademark snap connection to the characters; I still liked them all just only felt that pull to a couple of them.
