You guys!!! I loved, loved, loved this book so much! If you read and loved the Chestnut Springs series and you miss it and want the same feelings you got from it, then read this! I can't speak for the whole series yet, but if the rest of the series is as good as book one then I can't wait. I ate this book up and finished it so quickly because I just couldn't put it down.
Sophie and her mom left her dad when she was 12 years old and moved from their ranch in Colorado all the way to New York. Twenty years later, without any word from her father for all those years, Sophie heads back to Poplar Falls for a funeral. There she meets the family that she believes her father replaced her with. And here is where she meets Braxton Young. The nephew of the woman her dad is now married to. Braxton is the surly rancher who spends all his time on the ranch working. He sees Sophie as a city princess who doesn't belong here.
This book is a slow burn and the spice is very tame, but don't think that means there isn't all the sexy angst between Sophie and Braxton. The chemistry between these two is so hot and I loved that the tension between these two just continued to build so much throughout the book. I loved that we got to see a little jealousy between them without them trying to make each other jealous. Everything just felt so natural between these two and I loved it. I loved that they really centered each other out and they were exactly what the other person needed, even though neither of them were looking for someone. And lastly I loved how protective Braxton was of Sophie at the end of the book. He was able to step up and make sure Sophie got what was best for her and what she needed, even if he had to put someone who raised him in their place. He put her first and I just melted so much at that.
What to expect:
~ Small town romance
~ Big city girl and small town boy
~ Rancher romance
~ Slow burn
~ Family drama
