Thank you Gallery books for this wonderful modern take on Pride and Prejudice! Note, Austen fans can be happy with this modern version while never read P&P readers can enjoy a great summer romance read... this is great for all romance fans and Austen lovers.
Audrey Bellezza and Emily Harding have a new fan... I loved what they did with a classic story and one that has had many modern retellings and made it stand out above others, particularly by updating some plot points and character development themes that needed updating for a modern story. I won't say what storylines get updates but I was not disappointed and appreciated the cheeky but loving notes to the original story while holding on to the best parts of P&P (Lizzy being smart and capable, Darcy liking that about her... the mother being too much, the sisters each having their own identities and goals...). I loved the connection to this duo's previous book, which I now need to read (not needed to enjoy this one) and can't wait to see what they write next.
Highly recommend as a great end of summer, labor day weekend read!
